Black Iris SS19: Industry-based Skills to Design New Limited-Edition Contemporary Brand

The idea of ‘Black Iris’ began with four working moms who came from different industries. They got together and combined their individual skills to come up with a line of romantic, easy-to-wear pieces that can cross function at formal and informal events. They launched their first limited edition collection of contemporary women’s ready-to-wear in Spring/Summer 2019. With silk as the main textile, they introduced; day and charmeuse dresses in a variety of solid corals and chiffon floral prints.

Their brand name is inspired by the rare flower “Black Iris” and is modeled after it’s characteristics; known to be delicate, beautiful, highly coveted and difficult to find.

The four women used their life experience and took strategic positions that will allow them each to function at their full capacity in the area of their own expertise. Gradone was appointed the chief merchandising officer, Miller was chief marketing officer, Rosenberg was chief of design and creative director and Wexler chief operating officer.

The collection price points are between $395-$1,395 and they target mainly sophisticated women with a high sense of fashion. They are set to roll out 23 pieces this spring on their online platform and exclusively on Moda Operandi and Shop BAZAAR.
