WALK IT OUT FASHION SHOW 2018: HAUTE HUMBER DRESS REHEARSAL

Fashion makes life brighter, more beautiful and more meaningful. Fashion is not merely about clothes; it is a form of art and a huge part of our culture. Fashion is continually evolving with the times. It interacts with everything around us, whether it may be politics, social campaigns, music or sports.

 

This year, to celebrate fashion and its contributions to the Canadian culture, the Walk It Out Fashion Show: Haute Humber focuses on Canadian designers and their collections for spring and summer. Organized by the graduating Fashion Arts and Business students with the support of their faculty and alumni, the event has become an opportunity for learning and growth.

During the dress rehearsal, I was able to see an amazing preview of the show. Here, I witnessed the fashion, media and cosmetics students work together to make this show the best that it could be. It was a great opportunity to see some of the looks from designers Star Strauss, Christopher Paunil, Xian, Rhowan James, Joseph Tassoni, DeMontigny and MeMe Collection.

I also learned that the Joseph Tassoni collection was designed, made and sourced in Canada. It entails a collection of Canadian craftsmanship, quality, and Tassoni’s creativity. As an addition to working on his label, Tassoni is also passionate concerning the advancement of Canadian fashion through the mentorship positions he holds at George Brown and his advocacy for more Canadian products. The DeMontigny collection is designed by Angela DeMontigny, one of the leading aboriginal designers in North America. The brand is known for their all leather clothing collections, bold accessories and statement jewelry made of semi-precious jewels and crystals. The MeMe collection, on the other hand, is involved with an array of fashions based on Vermilion. Rhowan James is an RTW clothing brand for the men based in Canada. This brand caters to the present-day fashionista. With cues from classic tailoring, sportswear, and even street wear, it is a line that embodies everything that the modern man should be- robust, sophisticated and edgy.

The Walk It Out Fashion Show: Haute Humber is a great opportunity for celebrating fashion and meeting and networking with big names in the industry. It’s a truly must see for everyone!
