Profile of the Week

Hello fashion lovers! This week I interviewed, Gurarshdeep, a young, vibrant, and beautiful 23 year old girl from Tarn Taran, Punjab (India). She is currently studying Fashion Management and Promotions at Humber College and aspires to be a successful fashion designer. This girl is full of positivity and her fashion sense is outstanding.

Where did you go to school?

I studied at Kirpal Sagar academy and completed my graduation at Khalsa college for women Amritsar, Punjab. It was the best experience of my life and I really enjoyed my hostel life there.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My family is my strength who supported me in every possible way.  They did alot of efforts and spent a lot of money on me just to send me here in CANADA  for my bright future. My weakness is trusting anyone easily which brought lot of problems and negativity in my life.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would like to describe my style as comfortable, experimental and natural. I love wearing outfits that are comfortable and something which suits my personality. I love wearing slim fit jeans and crop tops and skirts so my style is casual and is exactly the way I am.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration in my culture of Punjab which is very rich and colourful. Our culture teaches us to be brave and positive. Colours, traditions, festivals , people etc almost everything inspires me. Punjab is rich in heritage.

Favorite Designer or Brand?

My favourite designer is Manish Malhotra. He is very creative and the well known celebrity designer in India and globally too. I love his traditional designs and embroidery work.

Place you like the most at Humber?

I love Fashion building the most as I spent my whole 2nd semester there. It is peaceful and also a  creative place for fashion students and really like the window display of fashion institute.

What’s your favorite movie?

My favourite movie is Titanic. It is a great love story and the visuals are the best. It made me smile and cry both.

Favorite song?

My favourite song is Heal the World. It is an awesome song of Michael Jackson. I am a big fan of him .. but he is no more but for me he is still alive in every fan’s heart because of his singing and music.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received?

“Mostly I wear casual jeans and stuff but whenever I wear Punjabi suits, I receive compliments and recently someone commented on my traditional picture (Sohni Sardarni), which means beautiful traditional girl.
