Guest Speaker – Izzy Camilleri

The Fashion Management and Promotions students recently had a chance to have famous Canadian designer Izzy Camilleri come in as a guest speaker. With over 30-years of experience in the industry, she has successfully managed to launch her own clothing line, work in costume production, create fashionable looks for music performances and design an innovative adaptive clothing line. It was very inspiring to be guided through her career path in fashion industry!

The starting point of Izzy Camilleri’s career was her participation in a small scale Fashion Show during her final year in college. The models who were taking part in the show loved her designs and ordered some of them from the collection. They were supportive and willing to help in advertising the brand, which later led to opening a fashion studio in Toronto and gaining even more popularity among the fashion community. (Don’t forget to take a look at Izzy’s fascinating collections at http://www.izzycamilleri.com/!)

What really sets Izzy Camilleri apart is her unique line of adaptive clothing designed specifically for wheelchair users. The designer was creating a custom coat for a woman who was paralyzed from her neck down when she thought about the importance of special clothes that will meet such customers’ needs. She decided to launch her first adaptive clothing line and was so inspired and focused that she managed to create the whole collection in only four weeks. Since then, her brand under the name of “IZ Collection”, has been gaining popularity and receiving messages of appreciation from grateful customers.
