With the end of a very long school year almost at its end, there is one last obstacle to overcome – Finals. Maybe you’ve spent one too many hours sitting at your dining room table or that neighbourhood coffee shop. Going stir crazy while studying is only going to make the boring process that much less enjoyable. Although there is not much you can do to make learning the entire semesters material more interesting, changing your scenery can give your brain a bit of a break. We might not all live close to local libraries or local cafes, which is why it’s important to take advantage of some campus study spot gems. There may be places you pass by everyday but would never think to study in! As we know, Humber lakeshore campus has many buildings containing lots of small nooks and crannies. Hopefully we can inspire you to explore the campus a bit more and find a new spot to sprawl out those pages and pages of notes.
Spot #1 – H building
This spot is not so hidden, but possibly underrated. The H building has study tables just inside the main doors and to the right. The large windows provide natural light to help keep you awake and focused. These large tables have space for every hand out and note you’ve accumulated over the course of the semester, and a few of your friends to join you! If you happen to find yourself on campus on a weekend, this is an amazing spot to spend your day. With a Tim Hortons a few buildings down, a water fountain and bathrooms close by, what more could you need? Having that view of campus really helps to make you feel less locked away from the outside world.
Spot # 2 – G building
This is a bit more of a secluded space, but still productive none the less. At the very top of the G building you’ll find small separated study tables. Depending on what subject you’re studying for, you can either sit at a table or in a big comfy orange chair. I get major Instagram inspiration when I sit up in this space. The old exposed brick, mixed with the greys and orange colour scheme is something out of an interior design magazine. These spaces are great for small study groups or individual cramming. With exams, just around the corner you may need to spend a few hours in a quiet and thought provoking environment. Bring a few study snacks and wear your comfiest outfit, the top floor of the G building will help you prepare for even your most dreaded finals.
