Looking to London Fashion Week, there are many similarities and differences in trend execution from the collections presented at NYFW. Political statements proved to be one of the major themes that filled the runways as fashion figures took to the streets to take part in protest of Brexit. Burberry displayed Union Jack on one of their garments to represent the fashion politics involved with Brexit and House of Holland created a collection based on the political events using bold colours mixed with wild patterns. Fashion East even encompassed US politics in their collection by including the American flag in their designs.
The romantic feminine theme as seen at New York Fashion week was present at LFW, with florals and volume found in silhouette and shape. Richard Quin had a brilliant collection of voluminous garments which were heavily printed with colourful florals. Mary Katrantzou also brought volume to her collection through the use of ruffles and feathers while also incorporating her signature colourful patterns, such as animal print and landscapes. JW Anderson used volume in a more subdued way by focusing on shapes and structure to emphasize particular parts of the body, including accentuated shoulders. Other designers who displayed these themes were Erdem, Roksanda, Simone Rocha, and Peter Pilotto.
