We heard D&G was in NYC? Now that’s something we can get behind.
Hello there Upper West Sidders, haven’t you heard? Italy has arrived and it’s for the rich and famous ONLY. Forget S&B, we are talking about D&G. That’s right, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are here and have a brand-new couture collection to showcase. But don’t get it twisted, it’s strictly reserved for their Alta Moda clients. This is most definitely nothing Little J can afford.
If you’re new to the world, D&G showcases these couture collections a couple times a year and they are reserved for their richest clients. On the invite list? VIP clients from their exclusive WhatsApp group all the way from the Middle East, China, Russia and the Great Britain. We’re sure Mister Chuck Bass could sneak himself on the list with daddy’s trust fund if he wanted to impress whatever mademoiselle he is seeing this time around.
As per usual, D&G emulates the “go big or go home” mentality. You can also expect to spend big or go home. Nonetheless, the couture show in the world’s greatest city could not happen anywhere but at the prestigious Metropolitan Opera House. We can’t remember, is it Is or Kati’s parents that are chairmen for the Lincoln Centre? Eh bien! The luxurious Metropolitan and vibrant city of New York are the main inspirations for this Americana collection, which is totally obvious from the pieces they showcased. Take a look for yourselves!
Any notable peeps in the lineup? Pffft, don’t ask me stupid questions. Duh! The flawless Ashley Graham was seen walking the runway, a few VS models cleared their busy calendars for this gig, and runway queen Naomi Campbell closed off the show. You couldn’t miss it if you follow them on the ‘gram. Sorry B, your 5’5 statue can’t really compare with these fashion models. There’s a reason why it didn’t work out with Waldorf Designs…
The entire weekend was devoted to D&G’s luxury clients. Jewelry night on Friday, a menswear show on Saturday morning, and the couture show embellished with fireworks and confetti followed by a lavish dinner on Saturday night. You wouldn’t catch the Humphrey’s anywhere near this extravagant affair. Sorry Lonely Boy!
